Fat dissolving injections have been designed to remove stubborn areas of fat in the face and neck which are resistant to diet and exercise changes. Dissolved fat cells will not return or re-develop, therefore this is a **permanent procedure as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The active substance, deoxycholate causes the break-down of fat cells and the release of fatty acids which are eliminated by the body’s normal metabolic processes. The number of treatments required differ from patient to patient. Generally, 2 to 6 sessions are required, with intervals of 4 to 6 weeks to obtain successful results.
The treatment begins to work immediately. Swelling in the area is a common side effect for the first week or so and should be anticipated. Unfortunately, there is no way to speed this process up but this inflammation actually helps to give the best results, as it causes tissue contraction in the area.

AQUALYX is an injectable, hydrous, micro-gelantuous solution, which is biocompatible and biodegradable. It causes the dissolution of fat cells, after which the body then expels the released fatty acids naturally. AQUALYXTM is a complex containing detergent from the desoxycholate family that has been physically modified in order to reduce the biological half- life and the sugar-based slow release system results in minimal side effects.
During AQUALYSIS treatment, AQUALYX is injected directly into the subcutaneous fat tissue using a cannula. Within the following weeks the treated fat cells are gradually dissolved. The metabolism in the treated area is increased. AQUALYSIS is intended for patients with localised adipose tissue not responding to diet or increased physical exercise. AQUALYSIS is not intended for = weight loss, it is used to improve and alter the contour of the body.

Within the first couple of days after the treatment

AQUALYX™ POST CARE PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS
• The treated area should not be exposed to direct heat (sauna, sun, etc.) or severe cold.
• Physical exercise should be avoided for approx.4 to 5 days.
• Application of cosmetics to the treated area should be avoided for at least 12 hours.
• Intake of anti-inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen etc.) should be avoided
• Adherence to nutritional protocol
• Compression garments such as “Spanx” may be of assistance post-operatively
