The facial aesthetics industry is one of the most rapidly growing industries in medicine, with it dominating the aesthetic medicine industry in 2018. We are seeing more and more patients opting for minimally invasive treatments over the more traditional surgical procedures, preferring a less intrusive, quicker and more inexpensive approach to their cosmetic needs. This shift in the industry has led to an increasing choice of treatments available, especially within the two most popular treatment types in facial aesthetics: Dermal Fillers and Anti-wrinkle Injections .
But how well do you know your favourite treatments? In this post, we’re rolling it back to the basics of our most popular injectable wonders.
Facial improvements using filler dates back to the period just after the invention of the syringe, with one of the first fillers being Vaseline! Thankfully, facial fillers have come a long way since then and nowadays the most commonly used filler component is Hyaluronic Acid.
Hyaluronic Acid is a temporary filler which attracts water in your skin to create a plumped, hydrated and overall healthier look for up to 24 months. HA filler can be used to enhance your features, create contour and replace lost volume, however the artistry behind these treatments can be far more complex and versatile than many people think… dermal fillers of different designs can be injected using varying techniques to create a multitude of finished results. Here are just a few examples of how we use dermal fillers here at Trikwan Aesthetics:
- Rejuvenate the under eye and remove dark circles
- Rebalance the proportions of the nose
- Revolumise, hydrate or enhance the lips (as featured in Vogue)
- Contour the Jawline
- Lift and Smooth smile lines
- Achieve model-like contours with cheek fillers
- Revolumise hollowed temples
Filler product choice is essential to achieving the highest quality results and at Trikwan Aesthetics, Harley Street and Mayfair doctors, Dr Sanjay Trikha and Dr Zoya Diwan take great care in using only the best and most appropriate fillers from world leading suppliers for each of their treatments. Additional beneficial ingredients can be added to a HA filler so that it may perform to improve an area on multiple levels – as is explained in our article about our Trikwan Tear Trough Filler (LINK-blog) treatments!
Dermal fillers are evolving all the time and the newest products, such as Ellanse® Dermal Fillers (LINK), function as a normal filler with additional bio-stimulating properties which, in time, leave you with a more natural product for a far longer duration.
Anti-wrinkle InjectionsSo, how does it work?
Botulinum injections act as a nerve block in muscle to stop muscle activity, therefore relaxing the muscle for up to 4 months. When used in the face this softens lines and wrinkles which can cause you to look stressed or aged, leaving you with a younger, rejuvenated result.
One of our favourite aspects of anti-wrinkle injections, is they give the patient so many options! You get to decide your desired result, and how we use them is all down to your consultation. For example, you can request to:
- Lift: Brow Lifts and Downturned corners of the Mouth
- Drop: Gummy Smile
- Tighten: Skin of the Neck
- Change Shape: Slimming the Jawline
DID YOU KNOW?
Botulinum Toxin has been used in the NHS for years for many problematic medical conditions, such as chronic migraines, teeth grinding, an overactive bladder and muscle spasms – it was first used as a treatment for crossed eyes! Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) is also treated using toxin injections, and this is another of our in-clinic treatments. The doses used for your treatments in clinic are far lower than doses used for many of these hospital conditions, so the treatments are very safe.
When should I be getting Anti-wrinkle Injections or Dermal Fillers?
All of these treatments are licensed for use on anyone appropriate, who is over the age of 18. The ageing process that effects the quality of our skin and facial tissue starts to take a hold of us around the age of 25, and from this point we start to lose collagen and underlying tissue in our face faster than our body is able to rebuild these essential structures. Many of our treatments can be preventative in this process or help restore volume already lost, such as our Trikwan Total Eye Transformation. Whereas many of our other treatments are focussed on enhancing your features, such as the Trikwan Cupid’s Bow Lip Filler and our Facial Contouring packages. What treatment you desire and when, is down to your personal preferences and needs, Doctors Sanjay and Zoya will discuss the details of all your options in your personal consultation.
At Trikwan Aesthetics, we combine dermal filler and anti-wrinkle injection treatments to create bespoke packages catering for the needs of our individual patients. These are a firm favourite among many of our clients, and among the likes of Vogue and Tatler too!
