Ellanse® is a new class of bio-stimulating dermal filler that works completely differently on a chemical level when compared to typical hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers.
Ellanse® works to contour and naturally regenerate volume through your own collagen stimulation, as opposed to just adding direct volume or contour.
Collagen is a key support structure found naturally within our skin. Unfortunately, our natural levels within our face start to reduce from our early 20s as the ageing process takes place. Collagen helps to maintain tightness, elasticity, suppleness and “youth” within our face. By preventing this loss of collagen, we can help prevent facial laxity and the formation of wrinkle folds.
This treatment emphasizes stimulating your own collagen, therefore allowing for a longer duration of effect to help reduce wrinkles, restore volume, redefine contours and improve skin quality. Ellanse® can continue to cause collagen stimulation for up to 4 years! This far outlasts other dermal filler options which usually last a maximum of 12-18 months.
Put simply Ellanse® is a dermal filler product that has two key components, the first gives immediate volume/contour and breaks down over the first 3 months; the second component continues to stimulate your own body’s collagen to maintain that contour/volume when the first component has disappeared, leaving you with a very natural product in your skin.

Q. How does Ellanse work?
As a non-HA based filler, the chemistry is different. The main components are Poly-Caprolactone (PCL) and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).
The CMC works to give you the immediate lifting and sculpting results more comparable with traditional dermal fillers, and this lasts for 12 weeks. At this point, the PCL begin to stimulate your own collagen (peaking at 12 weeks), and this can continue to work for up to 4 years.
Q. Ellanse or Dermal Filler? Which is best for me?
There are different advantages to either, so it’s always best to book in for a consultation and discuss in depth with your doctor at Trikwan Aesthetics. The type of patient who may benefit from Ellanse ® is more specific than one that will benefit from a HA dermal filler, so a detailed consultation is always required. Not every patient is suitable for Ellanse.
Q. Are there any side effects?
This procedure is very safe and is not disruptive to the patient’s everyday life, including social or professional activities. Ellanse training is only provided to experienced injectors, and most side effects are injection related, such as mild swelling, bruising and soreness. These are temporary and will resolve within 1-2 weeks.
Severe side effects of Ellanse are similar to those of HA dermal fillers, but are extremely rare and minimised by good technique.
A key difference with Ellanse and HA fillers is that Ellanse is non-dissolvable, and cannot be removed once injected. The benefit of this is the treatment can last for 1-4 years (depending on product choice), but this means patient selection is crucial to ensure its suitable for you.
Q. Treatment, Travelling and Big Events?
Travelling:
Flying can increase the chances of swelling after your treatment, this isn’t a problem and it is still possible to travel around your appointment, but we would recommend using ice to combat any swelling that you experience.
Big Events:
We advise booking far in advance of any big events you have coming up, to allow any swelling to subside and allow us to address any issues or top ups that my need performing to maximise your results. We ask all of our patients who have big events coming up, to get in contact with us before booking so we can best arrange your treatment to happen at the recommended number of weeks before your event.
Q. When will I see results?
The full results of this collagen stimulating treatment are realised at 3 months, as opposed to the 2 weeks for normal dermal fillers. Only 1 session is required to obtain immediate and long-lasting results.
