Bell’s Palsy is a facial paralysis caused by inflammation of the facial nerve, that only affects one side of the face, meaning it leads to facial asymmetry. The condition develops gradually and is usually temporary, resolving after a few weeks or months. Occasionally, the condition can persist and this can take a real toll on a patient’s self-confidence while they are suffering with it.
