What is Aqualyx?

Aqualyx is the non-surgical answer to liposuction. It is an injectable designed to dissolve stubborn areas of fat permanently, so long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle. Unlike liposuction, this procedure is non-invasive and does not require the downtime that traditional surgical fat removing procedures require.

How does it work?

Aqualyx contains an active ingredient, deoxycholate, derived from plant-based compounds, which causes the breakdown of fat cells by dissolving their cell membrane. The fatty acids are then released into the body, to be broken down by our usual metabolic processes in the liver.

What should I expect at my appointment?

Our highly experienced Doctors Sanjay Trikha and Zoya Diwan can help you decide which areas you would like to target and draw up a unique treatment plan for you, in an in-depth consultation before your treatment begins. We will then use Aqualyx injections in specific locations, over a series of sessions, in order to contour your body or face to give you your desired results. Aqualyx can be injected into any area of the body except for the area around the eyes. Most commonly we inject into the under-chin area and the jowls, the waist, hips, thighs, under arm, buttocks and the stomach. To achieve your ideal results, your treatment plan will likely be composed of 2 to 4 separate sessions over 4 to 6 weeks, but the Aqualyx treatment will start working from your very first session. You should expect to see your final result 6 weeks after your last treatment with us in our Harley Street or Mayfair clinics.

After care

Unfortunately, the Aqualyx treatment is likely to cause some swelling and bruising for the first week or so after treatment and this should be anticipated, so don’t worry if you experience this side effect. In fact, this swelling actually helps to improve results by causing tissue contraction in the injected area. Our doctors will take you through your full aftercare plan during your appointment.

After each session, and once your treatment plan has been completed, alongside following the advice on your aftercare, it is necessary that you maintain a healthy lifestyle, including maintaining your exercise and eating habits. This is important to ensure that you retain your fantastic results; this treatment is designed to help you remove those last stubborn fat pockets that can’t be budged with exercise and dieting, rather than as a weight-loss procedure.
