Neck Lines & Bands
Neck lines are, generally, horizontal lines that form in much the same way lines on the forehead and face form, through the processes of ageing. As we lose collagen and elastin production the skin of the neck becomes less able to bounce back and lines and wrinkles form. This can be made worse by sun exposure (the neck is often overlooked when applying sunscreen and skincare products), by genetics, and by repeated movements which have the skin of the neck folding in the same places.
Neck bands are the vertical lines on the neck that result from the contractions of a muscle called the platysma. The platysma runs from the jawline down the neck to the decolletage and over time, this muscle will weaken in some areas and spasm in others which causes the appearance of vertical ‘banding’ down the neck.
