Morpheus 8

Morpheus 8 is a more intensive treatment than your average filler or toxin injection, and therefore requires use of a numbing agent to make the procedure more comfortable for you. This will be applied topically and left for 20-40 minutes before carrying out treatment to allow the anaesthetic to take effect. During the treatment you may feel some pinching and minor pain when the needles enter your skin and the RF current is applied. After treatment, you will continue to feel residual heat in the area treated, this is good as it helps you gain optimal results, but may cause some mild discomfort for a short time after treatment.

After treatment, you may experience some residual heat and swelling from the treatment, and rarely, some small scabbing at the entry point of the needles which will resolve in 1-5 days. No makeup may be worn for the first 24 hours after treatment and you will need to wait 5-7 days before continuing use of any active skincare products e.g. Retinoids. Please see your post-treatment aftercare for full details of all aftercare procedures you should follow.

While Morpheus 8 is still a non-invasive treatment, it is a more intensive treatment than injectable filler or toxin and therefore there are some reasons why you may not be suitable for Morpheus 8 treatment, some of the most common include:

• Pacemaker or internal defibrillator
• Permanent implant in the treated area such as metal plates, screws and metal piercing or silicon
• Current or history of skin cancer, or any other type of cancer, or pre-malignant moles
• Pregnancy and nursing
• Severe concurrent conditions, such as cardiac disorders or sensory disturbances
• Impaired immune system due to immunosuppressive diseases such as AIDS, or use of immunosuppressive medications
• Poorly controlled diabetes or thyroid dysfunction and hormonal virilization
• Any active skin condition in the treatment area, such as sores, psoriasis, eczema, and rash
• History of skin disorders, keloids, abnormal wound healing, as well as very dry and fragile skin
• After use of a sunbed, or any form of tanning, you will need to postpone treatment by 2-3 weeks
• Use of Isotretinoin (Accutane®) within 6 months prior to treatment
• History of bleeding coagulopathies or use of anticoagulants in the last 10 days

If you are looking to combine this treatment with injectable fillers or toxin, you will need to wait 2 weeks after any toxin injections, and 6 months after any filler injections in the treatment area. Additional filler injections in the area will need to be postponed by 3 months from your Morpheus 8 treatment date.

Travelling:

Flying can increase the chances of swelling after your treatment, this isn’t a problem and it is still possible to travel around your appointment, but we would recommend using ice to combat any swelling that you may experience.

Big Events:

We advise booking far in advance of any big events you have coming up, to allow any swelling to subside and allow us to address any issues or top ups that my need performing to maximise your results. We ask all of our patients who have big events coming up, to get in contact with us before booking so we can best arrange your treatment to happen at the recommended number of weeks before your event.

You can return to work immediately after your treatment, though you may experience some residual heating in the skin and swelling. Some irritation in the area may persist for the first 1-5 days and you should follow your aftercare procedures carefully to make sure you get the most out of your treatment.
