Treatment

PRP treatment uses your own cells to promote hair growth and increase the blood supply to the hair follicle to encourage thickening of the hair shaft. The treatment works by taking components known as Platelets from your blood, concentrating them and then injecting them back into your scalp where hair loss has occurred.

Platelets release 7+ different proteins called Growth Factors which, when injected into your skin, act to increase blood supply to hair follicles and stimulate new hair growth and thickening.

This treatment is designed to make the most of your body’s own incredible capacity for healing and rejuvenation and requires no added artificial ingredients. During your appointment a small sample of your blood with be taken and placed into a centrifuge machine. This machine spins very fast to separate your plasma from your other blood components, and then this is extracted and concentrated for injection into your scalp.

For many years this treatment has been used in the medical field to promote healing after injury to muscle and tendons, after surgery and for the treatment of Osteoarthritis.

Treatment FAQs

Q.  How many treatments are required?

As always, it will depend on your specific concerns and we will tailor your treatment to the results you are looking to gain. However, we tell most patients that it is ideal to get 3-4 treatments, 1 month apart plus a top up treatment at 6-12 months to get the most out of your PRP treatment.

Q.  Are there any risks?

As with all injectable treatments, there is always a very small risk of infection involved which can be minimised by having an experienced practitioner who uses the safest techniques and equipment in their injecting. You can also expect some slight redness and swelling for 1-2 days post-treatment, with a small number of people experiencing some bruising.

However, as this treatment uses products derived from your own body (known as an autologous treatment) the risks of having a sensitivity reaction to the treatment is reduced in comparison with dermal filler and toxin treatments which involve injection of a synthetic substance.

Q.  Treatment, Travelling and Big Events

Travelling:

Flying can increase the chances of swelling after your treatment, this isn’t a problem and it is still possible to travel around your appointment, but we would recommend using ice to combat any swelling that you experience.

Big Events:

We advise booking far in advance of any big events you have coming up, to allow any swelling to subside and allow us to address any issues or top ups that my need performing to maximise your results. We ask all of our patients who have big events coming up, to get in contact with us before booking so we can best arrange your treatment to happen at the recommended number of weeks before your event.

Q.  When will I see results?

You will start seeing a reduction in hair loss at 8 weeks and should expect regrowth in 3-6 months after your treatment regime.

Results will vary from person to person as everyone will react slightly differently to the treatment.

Testimonials

What our patients really think...

I wasn’t pressured into doing anything outright and was told about all the possible options I could take and the differences between them and what would suit me. I have had two sessions and over that time, I am beyond pleased with the the results! Dr Zoya has masterfully kept my face the same but just enhanced and corrected things certain in places.
