Treatment

Lumecca Intense Pulse Light Therapy (IPL) is a powerful treatment designed to target the removal of red and brown pigment from the skin to restore a clear complexion and even skin tone. It is especially effective in tackling pigmentation caused by excess sun exposure and achieves this in half the number of sessions of traditional IPL treatments.

Lumecca is a breakthrough treatment from InMode, which joins Morpheus 8 as the latest addition to our portfolio of tried and tested, evidence-based, medical devices.

This treatment uses photo-thermolysis to target and eradicate red and brown hyperpigmentation in the skin. Photo-thermolysis is the application of specific wavelengths of light to the skin, which are absorbed by red and brown pigments, destroying them. The wavelengths used by the Lumecca device mean it is an incredibly powerful treatment option for targeting pigmentation and spider veins caused by excess sun exposure.

Lumecca sets itself apart from other IPL treatments in three ways:

  1. Higher Efficiency – Lumecca achieves complete photo rejuvenation in 1 to 2 sessions versus the 5-6 traditionally recommended.
  2. Reduced Treatment Time – Lumecca boasts a large spot size and high repetition rate therefore meaning larger areas can be covered in a shorter treatment time.
  3. Greater Treatment Comfort – Lumecca’s strong sapphire cooling tip allows for greater comfort than standard IPL treatments.

*Please note that all IPL Treatments will require a patch test minimum 48 hours before treatment

It does this by delivering 3X more energy to the skin than traditional IPL devices, in the range of light wavelengths that works best to eradicate the following concerns:

  • Hyperpigmentation (including age spots)
  • Rosacea
  • Melasma
  • Acne Scarring
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch Marks
  • Freckles
  • Vascular lesions (including spider veins)
  • Dull, Uneven skin tone

Treatment FAQs

Q.  How many treatments are required?

We recommend 1-2 treatments dependent on the severity of your concerns and your individual reaction to treatment. After this we then recommend a maintenance session every 6-12 months to maintain your optimal results.

Q.  What parts of the body can IPL be used on?

Lumecca can be used on all parts of the body, but is most commonly used to tackle pigmentation on the Face, Neck and Decolletage. However, we can also use it for other areas commonly exposed to the sun, such as the legs, arms, and hands.

Q.  Can it be used for darker skin tones?

Unfortunately, Lumecca is not FDA approved for use in Fitzpatrick skin tones V + VI. However, we have a range of other devices and treatments available at Trikwan which are safe for targeting pigmentation in darker skin tones. Book in for your consultation to learn which treatment would work best for you.

Q.  What should I expect after treatment?

Downtime after the Lumecca treatment is minimal, however you should expect some redness and warming of the skin immediately after treatment. You may notice some swelling and bruising after treatment (if vascular lesions are being treated) and then a darkening of the treated area before it dries out and flakes off to reveal your results over 1-2 weeks. You will need to avoid sunlight and wear an SPF for the first few weeks after treatment in order to protect your skin.

Travelling:

Flying can increase the chances of swelling after your treatment, this isn’t a problem and it is still possible to travel around your appointment, but we would recommend using ice to combat any swelling that you experience.

Big Events:

We advise booking far in advance of any big events you have coming up, to allow any swelling to subside and allow us to address any issues or top ups that my need performing to maximise your results. We ask all of our patients who have big events coming up, to get in contact with us before booking so we can best arrange your treatment to happen at the recommended number of weeks before your event.

Q.  When will I see results?

Improvement in complexion and pigmentation will begin to be seen within a few days of treatment, with best results seen at 2+ weeks post-treatment. Having multiple photofacial treatments will help to improve the quality of your final results.

You should expect some darkening of brown spots in the first 24-48 hours post-treatment before the treated area flakes off to reveal the restored complexion beneath within 1 week.

What our patients really think...

I wasn’t pressured into doing anything outright and was told about all the possible options I could take and the differences between them and what would suit me. I have had two sessions and over that time, I am beyond pleased with the the results! Dr Zoya has masterfully kept my face the same but just enhanced and corrected things certain in places.
